Rehearsal... transition from school to adult life!
"Transition" is the operative word for this program.
The Get Real Game focuses on the transition from grades 11 to 12 to
postsecondary life. Using highly interactive activities, students strategize
ways of acquiring necessary skills, training, education, and work experience to
achieve their future goals.
The program offers an ideal opportunity for students
to practise and hone the career and life-planning skills necessary for the 21st
century.
Game Specs:
- Targeted for 11th- and 12th-grade students.
- Includes 13 core sessions, each with detailed lesson
plans and all learning materials required.
- Optional activities and discussion topics are
included for use at the discretion of educators.
- Allows students to pass through unique, transitional
gateway events to a life that extend beyond the secondary educational
experience(all in the classroom!
- Easily localized and linked to actual community
resources and realities.
- Includes 13 to 20 hours of learning (more with
optional activities).
- Realistically links students' life to work roles and
personal career aspirations to all curriculum subjects.
- Can be team taught by teachers and
counsellors.
- Lends itself to involvement by community
members.
- Includes specific learning outcomes for all
sessions with performance indicators compliant with the Blueprint for
Life/Work Designs.
